~ Return to Wendover ~ Tringford to Little Tring
Out of the two arms that serve the countryside westwards of Marsworth, the Wendover route undoubtedly is the emerald queen. The six and half miles to Wendover shut well over a century ago, but is the subject of a restoration effort, as has been detailed in part in the original series on the Wendover Arm. In this series a look is taken at the changes that have occurred between Tringford and Drayton Beauchamp, with some updates on the section westwards through Green Park and Halton to Wendover

The hedgegrow alongside the Tringford pumping station has grown so much that its not possible to see the entire building from the Wendover Arm. Here's a close up of the pumping station

There's the hedgegrow!

This is the view that was featured in the original Wendover series, showing an excellent perspective of the Tringford pumping station

The stop lock is now navigable and boats can travel through Little Tring bridge as far as the new winding hole at Little Tring farm

The Wendover Arm Trust have their logo inset in the new concrete sides from the stop lock to the winding hole
There are moorings on the west side of Little Tring bridge as far as the winding hole

The Wendover 'road' is still there, although its out of bounds now and a storage site for equipment and materials for the current work towards Drayton. This picture was taken in 2002 when it was still possible to walk directly between the two sections of canal, instead of having to walk along the minor road through Little Tring. For those not familar with the Wendover Arm, a short section of canal was filled in completely and utitlised as a farm track around the early 1980's, and this is the view of that

This is a 2008 view of the canal 'road' from the public access route that leads from the main road to the rest of the canal
